Founded on January 1, 2010, the Thousand Pounds Action Company is a Los Angeles-based film production team that specializes in Hong Kong-style martial arts choreography.
Their name derives from the T’ai chi ch’uan proverb: “Four ounces of force is enough to move a thousand pounds.” According to the team spokesman: “The ‘four ounces’ represents our imagination and determination. The ‘thousand pounds’ are our ongoing achievements and successes.”
Although their initial efforts focused on live-action homages to comics, cartoons, videogames, and anime, they’ve also started work on an original web series, ‘Clandestine’, which successfully reached its Kickstarter goal on July 29, 2012.
Check out some of their work below. Their Naruto homages are my personal favorites.
